Who looks after your details

When you send an enquiry
We collect your name, email address, optional phone number, dates, number of guests and any message you choose to give us. We also record your marketing choice and the version of this notice shown with it.
We use these details to answer your enquiry, check availability and prepare a quote. If you go ahead, we use them to arrange and manage your stay. Providing your details is voluntary, but we need your name and a way to reach you to reply.
The contact page’s message form sends your name, email address, optional phone number and message directly to our team. We save it on our website and send an email copy to our inbox. We record your optional marketing choice and this notice’s version. If you choose the WhatsApp option instead, WhatsApp handles the message you send under its own terms.
Marketing is your choice
The enquiry and contact forms have an optional, unticked box for marketing material, promotions and special offers by email from The Mermaid’s Purse (Mermaid’s Purse Pty Ltd). We use your details for this only if you choose to tick it. You can send an enquiry or message without agreeing to marketing.
To unsubscribe at any time, email hello@marknorman.co.za. We handle these requests ourselves. Unsubscribing does not cancel a stay or stop the messages needed to deal with your enquiry or booking.
Your details are never sold
We never sell your personal details or give them to third-party companies for their own use. They are not shared with other companies for their marketing, promotions or special offers.
Our staff use the details to look after your enquiry and stay. Hosting and email service providers process the information needed to run those services on our behalf.
Earlier, confirmed launch-list subscriptions are held by Brevo, our subscription service provider in the European Union. You can also withdraw those subscriptions by contacting us.
How long we keep it
We keep enquiries that do not become bookings until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your details. Contact hello@marknorman.co.za and we will handle your request.
Where an enquiry becomes a booking, we may need to retain booking, invoice or payment records to meet our legal obligations. We will explain any reason a record cannot be deleted when you contact us.
The website and the map
The website has no advertising or analytics trackers. Fonts and photographs come from our own site. Our hosting providers may keep connection logs and use security measures to protect their services.
The Google Maps map on the contact page connects to Google when it loads. Google may receive your IP address and set cookies under its privacy policy. Opening WhatsApp, your email app or an external link takes you to that provider’s service.
Your choices and questions
You can ask what information we hold about you, ask us to correct it, request deletion where permitted, or object to how it is used. Contact hello@marknorman.co.za.
